Equality Ambassadors planning local initiatives on equality and diversity

The newly appointed Equality Ambassadors of the Council of Europe “I Choose Equality” campaign learnt more about the fight against discrimination and hate speech, activism and human rights-based communication with the help of Council of Europe experts and activists during a one-week online information session. The aim of the information sessions was to help the Equality Ambassadors develop and plan their initiatives on equality and diversity and assist them with useful tools for planning.  Their activities will be implemented throughout the year in Tbilisi and in the regions of Georgia.

The Equality Ambassadors competition, run by the “I Choose Equality” campaign, brought together young people living in Tbilisi, Adjara, Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti, who aspire to take an active role in promoting equality and diversity in their communities. The Equality Ambassadors were selected during the Equality Week 2020.

The event is conducted in the framework of the “I Choose Equality campaign run by the co-operation project “Fight against Discrimination, Hate Crimes and Hate Speech in Georgia”. The project is implemented under the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023 with the support of the Danish Neighbourhood Programme in Georgia (DANEP).
