Art Competition on Equality to mark the World Day for Cultural Diversity

21 May marks the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. On this occasion, the I Choose Equality campaign within the initiative of the Council of Europe Ambassador for Equality in Adjara announces an art competition on equality for young people.

If you live in Adjara, you are 13-29 years old and would like to express your opinion on diversity and equality through art, then this competition is for you!

The aim of the competition is to raise awareness among youth about equality and to increase their involvement in activism against any form of discrimination.

Terms of participation in the competition:

  • The work should thematically be about diversity and equality;
  • The work should reflect the author's vision and may be a photo, illustration, drawing, or poster. Stone paintings and pottery are also acceptable. The contestants are not limited in the number of entries;
  • In case of digital product, please send the submissions to the following e-mail: [email protected]. In case of a drawing or other product, please take a picture of the work and send it to us by e-mail: [email protected]. Be sure to include your first name, last name, age, class, school (in case of school students) and municipality;
  • The deadline for submissions is 10 May 2021. The work should have a title and description of an idea not exceeding 50 words.

 

Selection criteria:

Relevance to the topic - how well the work corresponds to the competition theme (40%);

Creativity (30%);

Quality (20%);

Author's message - a short description attached to the work (10%).

 

Selection of the winner:

According to the defined criteria and based on the submitted application, the jury will reveal the winners on 21 May, the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. The authors of the best work will be awarded with symbolic prizes.

In case of mitigation of pandemic regulations, an exhibition is planned, where the works of authors participating in the competition will be presented.

The competition is held within the initiative of the Council of Europe Ambassador for Equality in Adjara. Equality Ambassadors were selected in Tbilisi, Adjara, Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti as part of the I Choose Equality campaign run by the Council of Europe with the aim to contribute to promoting equality and diversity.

“I Choose Equality” campaign is run as part of the Council of Europe co-operation Project “Fight against Discrimination, Hate Crimes and Hate Speech in Georgia”. The project is implemented under the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023 with the support of the Danish Neighbourhood Programme in Georgia (DANEP).
