The General Police Inspectorate employees attend the second phase of the Training of Trainers on equality, non-discrimination and hate crimes

The second phase of the Training of Trainers on equality, non-discrimination and hate crimes for police personnel was organised jointly by the Council of Europe and the General Police Inspectorate on 7 - 8 June 2022. The workshop tended to strengthen the capacities of the participants to provide on-line and in-person training sessions for the police representatives from different regions of the Republic of Moldova on the impact of the discriminating behaviour on vulnerable groups and raising the awareness of the society on non-discrimination and equality related issues.

During the event, the participants have acquired competences and developed their knowledge on working with the victims of biased-crimes, effective investigation of the offenses motivated by prejudice as well as on proactive measures that should be undertaken by the authorities in order to protect persons belonging to the vulnerable group.

Within the same occasion, Ms Giulia Re, Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau and Mr. Viorel Cernauteanu, Chief of General Police Inspectorate of MIA handed out certificates to those who have successfully completed the training course ”Principles of Equality” and the training ”Crimes motivated by prejudice” organised by the Council of Europe. During the official award they have expressed their great appreciation to the facilitators and all participants for showing commitment and dedication to the Council of Europe standards, contributing to the efforts of national authorities to provide necessary services and vital resources to vulnerable groups when they are confronted with crimes motivated by prejudice.

The training was organized within the framework of the Council of Europe Project ”Enhancing diversity and equality in the Republic of Moldova” which is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova for 2021 – 2024. The project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
