During November-December twelve small-scale awareness-raising initiatives took place in ten municipalities across regions of Georgia. The aim of these activities was to raise awareness about the importance of tolerance and equality, peaceful coexistence and anti-discrimination through campaigning and local community actions. Some activities aimed at developing young people’s abilities to act against hate speech.

The activities were diverse and included: essay and photo competitions, online exhibitions, distribution of I Choose Equality visibility materials, field visits and discussions, trainings, online workshops, interviews with elderly population, placement of I Choose Equality Photo Frames in the Borjomi Historical Park and street art in the local communities.

In total more than 600 young people participated in the small-scale activities in 3 regions of Georgia, such as Adjara, Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti.

These initiatives were implemented by the Human Rights Association with the support of the Council of Europe and the State Ministry for Reconciliation and Civic Equality under the project “We together, We CAN!”. The project is conducted in the framework of the “I Choose Equality” campaign run by the co-operation project “Fight against Discrimination, Hate Crimes and Hate Speech in Georgia”. The project is implemented under the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023 with the support of the Danish Neighbourhood Programme in Georgia (DANEP).
