The Council of Europe awards the Pro Merito Medal to Mr Jean-Paul JEAN

On the occasion of the 33rd plenary meeting of the CEPEJ, Jean-Paul Jean (France) was awarded the Pro Merito medal by Christophe Poirel, Director of Human Rights at the Council of Europe, representing the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić, for his valuable contribution in setting up and enhancing the evaluation exercise of the CEPEJ's judicial systems from 2002 until the end of 2018. He has made his expertise available to the CEPEJ, tirelessly throughout Europe and beyond. He thus contributed greatly, with dynamism and enthusiasm, to the creation of what is today the most important, reliable and useful database of judicial systems.

Mr Jean has written numerous communications items during seminars and conferences in France and abroad representing the CEPEJ for which he carried out many missions. He also chaired the jury of the Crystal Balance Prize in 2019.

Mr Jean also actively participates in the CEPEJ's cooperation programmes, in particular in Tunisia, by bringing his expertise and know-how.

Mr Jean is highly appreciated by the Secretariat; he is always available, always ready to find solutions to change his schedule which is not easy to manage given his numerous commitments.
