The most recent edition of University World News carries an article on the Global Forum on academic freedom, institutional autonomy, and the future of democracy, which was held at Council of Europe Headquarters in Strasbourg on 20 – 21 June.

The article was written by Sjur Bergan, Head of the Council’s Education Department, and Ira Harkavy, Chair of the Steering Group of the International Consortium for Higher Education, Civic Responsibility and Democracy and associate vice president and founding director of the Barbara and Edward Netter Center for Community Partnerships at the University of Pennsylvania.

The Council of Europe and the International Consortium co-organized the Global Forum with the International Association of Universities, the Magna Charta Observatory, and the Organization of American States.
