A summer in the garden ...

In July 2018, the “Centre for heritage professions” in Wallonia (Belgium) organized two weeks of activities and internships for very different audiences.

During the first week of July, the 2nd meeting of educators on heritage professions with the theme of urban and rural gardens was held: nine teachers met to exchange, practice and discover. The week was punctuated by visits and workshops of stone carving or rock cement factory. Round tables were also organized to encourage exchanges on the experiences and discoveries of the day from an educational perspective. Among the discoveries of the week, it is worth mentioning the visit of the willow village in Hosdent, the visit to the Tchafornis park in Engis and the lecture by Nathalie de Harlez de Deulin on the history of the gardens.

During the second week of July, a "Yesteryear Garden" workshop dedicated to children and designed by the educational teams of the Centre des métiers du patrimoine and Château de Jehay allowed children to discover vegetable dyeing with dye plants, the association of plants and many other things. The highlights of this internship were the art of canning and vegetable printing on textiles. Once the internship is over, both teams are already thinking about next year's theme!
