Back Rendez-Vous in Gardens 2019: "Animals in the garden"

Rendez-Vous in Gardens 2019:

This 2nd edition of the Rendez-vous aux jardins, held on Friday 7 (a day more particularly dedicated to schoolchildren), Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June 2019, was dedicated to the theme "Animals in the garden. ». For the second consecutive year, these Garden Rendez-vous was held in other European countries: 20 countries organized events during the present edition and gathered over 2 million visitors.

This year's theme invites us to reflect on the relationship between man and his environment and biodiversity. Animals are an essential component of gardens. Some animals can be harmful (boxwood moth, rodents, etc.) but others can help him maintain the garden (ladybug, pollinators, etc.). In addition, animals can be an ornamental element, such as peacocks, or a recurring subject in statuary.

A study day for all the national and regional organisers of this event (nearly 200 participants in 2018) was organised on Wednesday 6 February at the Institut national du patrimoine in Paris. The outcomes of that meeting are available here (only in French).

20 countries have participated :

Andorra, Belgium, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland.
