On 22-24 November, a HELP Training-of-Trainers session was held in Kyiv for a combined group of participants: judges and trainers of the National School of Judges of Ukraine and trainers of the National Academy of Prosecutors of Ukraine.
The event was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Enhancing the implementation of European Human Rights standards in Ukraine”.

The objective of the session was to equip the participants with skills to successfully implement the HELP courses on Prohibition of ill-treatment and Labour rights for Ukrainian prosecutors and judges, respectively.

Following the general presentation of the HELP Programme, the participants could benefit from content presentation on the two topics from the course authors – Eric Svanidze (on the topic of Prohibition of Ill-treatment) and Irina Shevchuk (on the country specific course on Labour rights in light of the European Convention on Human Rights).

The participants were introduced to the HELP methodology and provided detailed information on their roles of future HELP tutors in Ukraine. They were also introduced to the HELP online platform and in addition they were provided guidance by e-learning design specialists on how to make the best use of the platform.

The Training-of-trainers session included practical aspects on building of the national adaptation of the HELP course. For instance, future tutors of the Prohibition of Ill-treatment course brainstormed with the course author on the specific content of the national adaptation of the course in respect of Ukraine. The future tutors of the Labour rights course took part in practical exercises on identifying possible interferences with individuals’ Convention rights in labour relations.

The courses will be launched and implemented in the two partner institutions in the course of 2019.
