About the activity

The European Label of Governance Excellence (ELoGE) is awarded to local authorities having achieved a high overall level of good governance across the CoE 12 Principles of Good Governance.

The Programme was implemented in Greece from May 2017 to March 2018 with the support of the Institute of Local Administration which was accredited by the European Stakeholders’ platform to award the label in Greece until 31 December 2020.

 Methodology

Following the launch event held on 15 May 2017 in Hersonissos (Crete) and the collection of expressions of interest to participate in the activity, the Centre of Expertise developed a number of evaluation tools, namely:

Greek municipalities were able to submit the matrix along with evidence and surveys’ responses to the Institute of Local Administration from 16 October 2017 to 24 November 2017.

Twenty-three municipalities applied for the Label. Matrixes, supportive documents and surveys’ results are currently being assessed by the Centre of Expertise.

All Greek municipalities are invited to the ELoGE Award Ceremony which will take place on 14 March 2018 in Athens. On this occasion the outcome of the selection process will be disclosed and local authorities having proved to deliver a high overall standard of good governance in their municipalities will be awarded the Label and will receive a crystal dodecahedron engraved with the twelve European principles of good democratic governance.
