In 2016, the Centre and ISIG planned to support the BLUEWIN Project which was approved for funding by the EU. The project establishes co-operation between the municipalities of Zadar, Dubrovnik (Croatia), Highland Council (UK), Gorizia (Italy), Nova Gorica (Slovenia), and Kotor (Montenegro) in the area of water ecosystems.

A regional workshop on Cross-Border Cooperation (CBC) was organised in Dubrovnik, in order to discuss and launch co-operation between the city of Dubrovnik and neighbouring municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

Leadership Academy for Cross-Border Cooperation - Stage 3

The Leadership Academy for Cross-Border Cooperation Stage 3 (LAP for CBC) is taking place in Herceg-Novi, Montenegro on  6-9 June 2017. The previous stages were held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and in Trebinje, Bosnia and Herzegoniva.

The Leadership Academy is a learning and action programme for mayors, senior officials and elected representatives of local government. Local authorities from the border municipalities of Dubrovnik (Croatia), Trebinje (Bosnia and Herzegoniva), Herzeg Novi and Kotor (Montenegro) are learning about the Madrid Convention and its practical implementation tools. In particular, at this stage they are also focusing on scenario planning, civil participation, organisational change and expectations management in the context of CBC. They are also developing and presenting their own concrete CBC projects.

On 9 June, the Head of the Centre of Expertise will award the LAP certificates to the local authorities and trainers who completed the course.
