The Centre of Expertise is launching a new activity on strategic municipal planning in the frame of the EU – CoE Technical Assistance Project on Institutional Enhancement for Local Governance in Greece. This activity will be implemented from September 2017 to March 2018.
The Workshop organised on Wednesday 20 September in Athens will provide local governments with technical and practical guidance on how to prepare a Strategic Municipal Plan, drawing on best-practice international experience.
More precisely, it will serve as an opportunity to:
- share practical learning about how to carry out a successful Strategic Municipal Plan.
- present and discuss the five key stages in developing a Strategic Municipal Plan – preparation, building a community profile, stakeholder engagement, vision statement and action plan – and illustrate these through practical and real examples.
- address what success looks like in practice and, to avoid pitfalls and problems.
- discuss similarities and differences between the statutory Business Planning requirement for municipalities in Greece and the CoE Strategic Municipal Planning.
