Finding gaps and solutions in the provision of services for survivors of violence against women in West Georgia

On 16 and 17 September, a multi-disciplinary group of prosecutors, representatives of the Public Defender’s Office and the Ministry of Social Affairs together with the non-governmental organisations providing services to women survivors of violence gathered in Batumi. This second regional multi-sectorial meeting promoted and improved the coordination among the representatives of different sectors working to counter violence against women and domestic violence.

The meeting served as a platform for experience and information sharing on the existing services in West Georgia. The representatives of state and non-governmental organisations, including the Public Defender’s regional office, had an opportunity to present their activities. The discussions mainly focused on gaps in the provision of services and the ways of improving referral options and pathways for the survivors of violence.

Multi-sectorial meetings are organised in cooperation with the General Prosecutor’s Office.

The meeting was held in the framework of the project ‘’Preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence in Georgia”.
