Children and the Istanbul Convention: new publication available in Azerbaijani

The Council of Europe’s Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, also known as the Istanbul Convention, is the most comprehensive international treaty to end violence against women and domestic violence. Most victims of domestic violence are women; and many of these women have children who either face the violence directly or are witnesses of violence against their mothers. In both cases, children suffer and need to be protected.

A new brochure is available in Azerbaijani on children’s rights under the Istanbul Convention.

Find out more about how the Istanbul Convention protects children in Azerbaijani here.

This translation was done under the joint action ‘Raising awareness of the Istanbul Convention and other gender equality standards in Azerbaijan’ currently implemented within the Programme for Good Governance II (PGGII), a European Union and Council of Europe joint programme in the Eastern Partnership countries. Among other objectives, the joint action seeks to support the Azerbaijani authorities to sign the Istanbul Convention.
