“European standards and best practices in relation to hate speech and the protection of minors” regional conference

A regional conference entitled “European standards and best practices in relation to hate speech and the protection of minors” was held on 7-8 July 2016, in Petrovac, Montenegro.

The goal of the conference was the promotion of regional cooperation in the fight against hate speech and the protection of minors from potentially inappropriate and harmful media content. Since this conference was the first gathering organised in the framework of the new Joint Programme of the Council of Europe and the European Union – there were discussions about future cooperation and potential activities related to the field of media regulation.

Conclusions

Following the decision of the Committee of Ministers on 16 March 2022 the Russian Federation is no longer a member of the Council of Europe. The website will be updated as soon as possible to take account of this development.
