Back SEE parliaments and public broadcasters engage to promote the culture of political dialogue

Patrick Penninckx, the Head of the Information Society Department, attended the 21st Cetinje Parliamentary Forum hosted by the Parliament of Montenegro. Representatives of regional parliaments, media and relevant international and non-governmental organisations gathered on September, 30, 2019 to discuss on the theme: “Parliament and the media – reality vs. Mutual expectations”.

The Cetinje Parliamentary Forum, represents the regional initiative of parliamentary cooperation among South east European countries since 2004. It serves as an important form of promotion of parliamentary dialogue among countries of the region as well as an important forum to share experiences. During the Forum, Patrick Penninckx was, in particular, able to exchange with Ivan Brajović, the current President of the Parliament of Montenegro.

This year forum took place in two sessions, the first one regarding “Responsibility of parliaments and public broadcasters in promoting the culture of political dialogue” and the second one regarding “The role of legislative solutions in strengthening the freedom and professionalism of the media work”. As a result of the Forum a Joint Statement will be adopted.
