Promotion of Lexicon of Judiciary and Media Terms in Bosnia and Herzegovina

A lexicon of Judiciary and Media Terms in Bosnia and Herzegovina, by the author Dario Novalic, created with the financial support of a joint EU and Council of Europe project “Reinforcing Judicial Expertise on Freedom of Expression and the Media in South-East Europe (JUFREX)”, was promoted today in Sarajevo. The publication was created as a result of a need for better understanding between representatives of the media and the judiciary structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to avoid the mistakes which can misinform publics as a consequence.

The creation of the Lexicon was preceded by the research, within which a series of focus group meetings, that included the representatives of both professional communities in BiH, were held, in order to define the terms that were, in so far, an obstacle in understanding between the representatives of both professions, and created misunderstandings and breaches of freedom of expression. The publication, with a list of definitions of judiciary and media terms, as an extra material contains codes of professional journalism, as well as some relevant legislations in this area in BiH.

This publication was created with the financial support of the EU and the Council of Europe. Attitudes and opinions presented do not necessarily reflect official attitudes of the European Union.
