New report on journalism and media privilege by the European Audiovisual Observatory

The Council of Europe European Audiovisual Observatory has released a new report entitled “Journalism and media privilege”. The report is dedicated to the question as to how national law in Europe protects journalists and their right to work in safety and without interference.

The provisions to protect journalists, the so-called “media privilege”, is analysed by this report in systems of national law in 9 different European countries along with latest developments in case law concerning journalism in Europe.

The free 100-page report was produced in collaboration with the Institute of European Media Law (EMR) based in Saarbrücken, Germany.
