On 28 May 2019 Patrick Penninckx, Head of Department of Information Society at the Council of Europe met with representatives of the SOVA Center for Information and Analysis in Strasbourg.
The meeting was facilitated by the Brussels-based human rights NGO International Partnership for Human Rights (IPHR) in the framework of IPHR and SOVA joint project on combating anti-extremism and supporting freedom of religion in Russian Federation.
Parties discussed recent developments in the Russian anti-extremist legislation, law enforcement, as well as updates on situation with freedom of religion and belief in Russia. Mr. Penninckx expressed his willingness to cooperate with the SOVA center on the topics of Freedom of Expression, Protection of Journalists and Data Protection.
