The working group was set up to assist the Steering Committee on Media and Information Society (CDMSI) in preparing the draft resolutions in view of the ministerial conference « Artificial intelligence – Intelligent politics Challenges and opportunities for media and democracy » which will take place in Cyprus in 2020. On 15 October 2019, the meeting of the working group took place in Strasbourg to discuss and finalize the draft resolutions before their transmission to CDMSI for examination at its December plenary session.

The three draft resolutions, on the impacts of AI-powered technologies on freedom of expression, on the safety of journalists and on the changing paradigm of the media environment and its impact on, inter alia, the electoral processes as well as the final declaration of the ministerial conference will be adopted by the ministers responsible for media and information society meeting in Cyprus in May next year."
