On 8-9 September, the Council of Europe organised two information meetings for the managers of the regional TV and radio outlet managers supported by the Communications Commission (regulatory body) and the Alliance of Regional Media Outlets of Georgia.

The meetings aimed at sharing information and discussing most topical issues prior parliamentary elections involving 20 TV and radio outlets from the country regions.

Representatives of the Communications Commission presented recent legislative changes related to media during electoral process and responded to practical dilemmas arising during electoral process. Political advertising, age marking of respective programmes, rules related to media outlet’s web and audio-visual platforms were discussed. The meeting was of practical nature and allowed regional media representatives to inquire about upcoming regulatory framework directly with the regulatory body.  In addition, the topics related to the ethical standards of covering elections were shared.

The activity was organised in the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Supporting Freedom of Media and Internet in Georgia”.
