The Council of Europe is a longstanding partner of the Public Broadcaster in Moldova and its Documentary Department, Telefilm-Chisinau.
Since 2017, the Council of Europe has supported the Documentary Department of the Public Broadcaster through the development of high-quality content on human rights and social issues.
On 11th of September, in Chisinau, 400 people attended the Premiere of three documentaries on human rights and social issues developed with the Council of Europe support throughout 2023 and 2024. The event, organised by the Project “Support for Media Pluralism and Freedom of Expression in the Republic of Moldova” launched three high-quality and impactful documentaries: “The past that lives,” “The shadow of the past,” and “I will live.”
The films explore sensitive and actual topics in the field of human rights and are the result of the effort and dedication of the film creators, supported by Telefilm-Chisinau and the Council of Europe, as well as by the internationally renowned film director – Irene Langemann. Each film tells a unique and touching human story, capturing the core of the problems and challenges faced by the contemporary Moldovan society.
