Patrick Penninckx, the Head of the Information Society Department addressed the Ambassadors to Belgrade in a webinar on the 3rd of September 2020. He presented the work of the Council of Europe in the fields of freedom of expression, media freedom, data protection and artificial intelligence. He also reviewed the latest developments in Southeastern Europe and introduced the Council Europe projects in Serbia and Western Balkans in the field of freedom of expression and freedom of the media. Replying to questions from the audience, he explained the functioning of the Platform to promote the protection of journalism and safety of journalists, the framework of cooperation with digital companies, the human approach to surveillance and face recognition etc.
The webinar was organised by Tobias Flessenkemper, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Belgrade.
