Back Reception by France of unaccompanied foreign minors - The Defender of Rights submits a communication to the Committee of Ministers

Khan v. France

The Défenseur des droits de la République française submitted to the Committee of Ministers a communication in the Khan case, referring to a number of problems in the reception and care of unaccompanied foreign minors. The National Consultative Commission on Human Rights had already sent a similar communication last year.

This 2019 judgment by the European Court concerns the degrading treatment of a twelve-year-old unaccompanied foreign minor, due to the authorities’ failure to provide care and protect him for several months in 2015 and 2016, in Calais.

This case is scheduled for a first examination by the Committee of Ministers at its HR meeting in December 2020.
