Back French NHRIs submit a communication on conditions of detention

Yengo v. France

The Commission nationale consultative des droits de l’homme (CNCDH) and the Contrôleur général des lieux de privation de liberté (CGLPL) submitted to the Committee of Ministers a joint communication in the Yengo case concerning the conditions of detention in France and the absence of effective preventive remedy.

This case concerns the Court's finding, in May 2015, of the lack of an effective preventive remedy for the applicant, held in prison between August 2011 and May 2012 in New Caledonia, to complain about his conditions of detention.

The French authorities can reply to this communication at any time. It should be noted that the Court has sent them several new applications concerning conditions of detention in metropolitan France and overseas.
