This conference was a continuation of the expert seminar "Reinforcing social rights protection in Europe: to achieve greater unity and equality", organised by the Council of Europe on 19 September under the auspices of the French Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. Its purpose was to offer an academic approach to the issues related to the reform of the monitoring mechanisms by placing the European Social Charter in the European and international context of the protection of social and economic rights.
An opening address was given by Jeanne-Marie Tufféry-Andrieu, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Political Science and Management and Jan Malinowski, Head of the Department of the European Social Charter, Council of Europe.
The conclusions were presented by Prof. Petros Stangos, member of the European Committee of Social Rights.
