Invited by the Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters (EMERCOM) of the Russian Federation, the EUR-OPA Agreement participated in the panel discussion "The Economics of Managing Major Catastrophes" at St Petersburg International Economic Forum 2013 (20-22 June).
The discussion, moderated by Margareta Wahlstrom (United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction) and with the participation of Vladimir Puchkov (Minister of EMERCOM Russia) and top level managers of private companies, focused on the increasing economic implications of major disasters and the ways that both public and private decision makers can contribute to the societies’ resilience through adequate coordinated actions.
