The Executive Secretary of the EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement participated in Ankara in the Conference on Human Rights and Migration in the Context of Natural Disasters and Emergency Situations on 11 and 12 June 2024. The conference was organised by the Council of Europe in the framework of the project on “Strengthening the human rights protection in the context of migration in Türkiye”. The meeting, which gathered approximately 80 lawyers active in the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, was an opportunity to present EUR-OPA’s work aiming to protect vulnerable groups in disasters and in particular to highlight the need for migrant-inclusive disaster risk reduction policies.
EUR-OPA Major Hazards Agreement is a platform for co-operation in the field of major natural and technological disasters.
