Joint meeting of the EUR-OPA Committee of Permanent Correspondents and the Directors of Specialised Centres - 2018

 

The Committee of Permanent Correspondents and the Directors of Specialised Centres of the EUR-OPA held a joint meeting on 6-7 November 2018 in Zagreb (Croatia), in the framework of the Croatian chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. The meeting was opened by Mr. Dragan Lozancic, Director General of the National Protection and Rescue Directorate of Croatia in the presence of Ms. Vesna Baus, Minister Plenipotentiary, Head of Department for Regional International Organisations and Initiatives, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia.

The participants discussed in particular the restructuring of the Agreement and identifed new priorities of work for 2019. They also examined the outcomes of the projects carried out by the Centres in 2018 and the activities planned for 2019.

The Director of Centre summarised the hazard and vulnerability assessment project which is geared towards risk mapping in prone areas. The project identifies hazard and susceptibility to coastal erosion and produces maps of different shorelines; categorising the coastline in 6 groups according to susceptibility to coastal erosion.
