Eurimages in Venice!

Eight films supported by the Eurimages Fund were screened at the 80th edition of the Venice Film Festival (30 August – 9 September 2023)  three of which were selected in the official competition:

The Promised Land (DK, DE, SE) by Nikolaj Arcel

La Bête (FR, CA) by Bertrand Bonello and

The Green Border (PL, CZ, BE, FR) by Agnieszka Holland which was awarded the Jury's Special Prize, as well as numerous collateral prizes such as the ARCA CinemaGiovani Prize for Best Film, the Premio CinemaSarà, the Green Drop Prize, the UNIMED Prize for Cultural Diversity, etc.

Two co-productions were selected in competition for the Horizons section:

Paradise is Burning (SE, IT, DK, FI) by Mika Gustafson, winner of the Orizzonti Prize for  Best Directing and

Invelle (IT, CH) by Simone Massi, winner of the Lizzani Prize.

Three further Eurimages-supported films were selected at the Venice Days, two of which in competition:

Foremost by Night / Sobre todo de noche (ES, PT, FR) by Victor Iriarte and

Through The Night / Quitter la nuit (BE, FR, CA) by Delphine Girard which won the People Choice’s Award,

and finally Anna (IT, FR) by Marco Amenta in the framework of the Venetian Nights.

FOREVER, FOREVER by Anna Buryachkova was selected in the Orizzonti Extra section. This co-production between Ukraine and the Netherlands was also supported by Eurimages in the framework of its partnership with the Ukrainian Institute and the 2023 edition of the proMOTION programme.
