The Council of Europe’s Eurimages Fund has joined forces with a selection of co-production markets all over the world in order to award the Eurimages Co-production Development Award. A cash-prize of €20,000, this award has been created to promote the Fund’s role in encouraging international co-production from the initial stages of a project.

Following the call for proposals launched in March 2023, the following co-production markets have been selected to present the Eurimages Co-production Development Awards in 2024-2026:

NB. At its plenary session on 18 March 2021, the Eurimages Board of Management decided to ask the jury members of this award to undertake in advance not to join the co-production structure of the project which will be awarded the Eurimages Co-production Development Award in quality of or acting as producer.

The 2018 Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival has named the winners of its Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event awards after a week of presentations and meetings: in the festival’s Baltic Event Co-Production Market, which featured 16 projects, France-Finland feature A Girl’s Room, from director Aino Suni and producers Sébastien Aubert and Ulla Simonen, won the €20,000 Eurimages Co-production Development Award. The jury composed of Emma Scott for Eurimages, Jeremy Zelnik, from Les Arcs Film Festival and the Italian producer Giovanni Pompili “was impressed with the quality of the director's previous short films and appreciated the strong personal vision this promising young director has for her debut feature. The jury also noted the strong collaboration between the Finnish and French team since the projec's inception and furthermore they felt this exciting project has the potential to reach international audiences.”

27/10/2018 -Last night, the Eurimages Co-production Development Award presented at Cinekid in Amsterdam went to the project Tony, Shelly & Genius written by Jana Šrámková, to be directed by Filip Pošivač and produced by Nutprodukce (CZ). The Jury composed by Alexander Dupont-Geisselmann, Helene Mohlin and Elena Kotova for Eurimages also decided to award a Special Mention to the project My Dad is a Sausage written by Jean-Claude van Rijckeghem, to be directed by Anouk Fortunier and produced by A Private View (BE). 23/10/2018 - The Eurimages Jury of the MIA|Cinema Co-Production Market (Rome, 17-21 October 2018) decided to award the Eurimages Co-production Development Award to the project Nightsiren which will be directed by Tereza Nvotova (SK) and produced by Milos Lochman for Moloko Film (CZ). The jury, composed of Jonas Dornbach (DE), Bart van Langendonck (BE) and Tamara Tatishvili (GE) for Eurimages, was very satisfied with the good balance of the selected works between women’s and men’s representation (50/50) in this section. It was seduced by the project of this young female director who will take the spectator on a journey where past and present, as well as myth and reality are intertwined. 01/10/2018 - The Eurimages Co-production Development Award of an amount of 20 000 euros awarded in the framework of the VII Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum at the San Sebastian International Film Festival went to the project The Jungle to be directed by Matthias Huser and produced by the Swiss company 8Horses. The jury composed of Pablo Pérez de Lema for Eurimages, Hernán Musaluppi and Pamela Leu decided to “grant the award to an original family drama with a touch of magic realism and for its challenging co-production strategy”. Moreover, in the framework of the International Film Festival which came to a close this weekend, the Jury Prize for Best Screenplay was awarded to Paul Laverty for the film Yuli by Icíar Bollaín co-produced by Spain, the United Kingdom and Germany and the City of Donostia / San Sebastian Audience Award was awarded to the film Another Day of Life by Raúl de la Fuente and Damian Nenow, a co-production between Spain, Poland, Belgium and Germany: both films have been supported by Eurimages.

20/08/2018 – The Eurimages Co-production Development Award of an amount of 20 000 euros awarded in the framework of the CineLink Co-production Market at the Sarajevo Film Festival was given to the project Safe Place which will be directed by Juraj Lerotić and produced by the company Propeler Film (HR) in co-operation with Staragara (SI). The jury composed of Annamaria Lodato, Behrooz Hashemian, Boban Jevtić for Eurimages, Čedomir Kolar, Danijel Hočevar, Georges Goldenstern and Sehad Čekić were touched by this very strong personal film.
Moreover, the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Director was awarded to Iona Uricaru for her film Lemonade, a co-production between Romania, Germany and Canada supported by Eurimages, and the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Actor was awarded to Leon Lučev for her role in The Load by Ognjen Glavonic, another co-production supported by Eurimages between Serbia, France and Croatia. 04/06/2018 - The Eurimages Co-production Development Award of an amount of 20 000 euros was awarded on Saturday evening in Cluj (RO) in the framework of the Transilvania International Film Festival's Co-Production Market (Transilvania Pitch Stop) to the project Frost which will be directed by Pavle Vučković and produced by Stefan Mladenović and Maja Kecojević (Plan 9, RS). The jury was composed of Uldis Dimisevskis, member of the Eurimages Board of Management, and of producers Cedomir Kolar (A.S.A.P. Films) and Nadia Turincev (Rouge International).
Moreover, the 17th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival rewarded four Eurimages-supported co-productions: Pororoca (RO, FR) by Constantin Popescu received the Best Feature Award of the Romanian Days section while Ivana Mladenovic's Soldiers. Story from Ferentari (RO, BE, RS) obtained the Best Debut Feature Award of the same section. The Berlinale winner Touch Me Not by Adina Pintilie received a Special Mention from the Romanian Days Jury and last but not least, another Special Mention worth 1,000 Euro was awarded for the first time to a young Romanian actor, Mircea Postelnicu, for his role in Calin Peter Netzer's Ana, Mon Amour (RO, DE, FR). 26/03/2018 - Last Thursday, the Eurimages Co-production Development Award for documentaries(€15,000) presented at the CPH:FORUM in Copenhagen went to the project Journey to Utopia to be directed by Erlend Eirik Mo and produced by Lise lense-Møller (Magic Hour Films, DK). The jury, consisting of Tobias Pausinger, Eurimages Board Member, Marit Van Den Elshout, Head of IFFR Pro, and Vibeke Vogel, managing director and founder of Bullitt film, decided to grant this prize to “a brutally honest project which, by telling an intimate story, touches upon big universal matters we are all occupied with”. 09/03/2018 - The very first Eurimages Co-production Development Award presented in the framework of Cartoon Movie went to the project entitled Kara which will be directed by Sinem Sakaoglu and co-produced by Visual Distractions (Germany) and Beast Animation (Belgium). The jury composed of Karin Schockweiler (representative of  Luxembourg to the Eurimages Board of Management), Felix Vanginderhuysen (JEF - Belgium) and Sara Wikler (STUDIOCANAL - France) wanted to encourage this ambitious art house-project done by a young female talent and supported by experienced and inspired producers. 19/02/2018 - Last night, during the Eurimages cocktail held in co-operation with Berlinale Co-Production Market, the Eurimages Co-production Development Award went to the project The War Has Ended by Hagar Ben Asher, to be co-produced by the companies Madants (PL), Match Factory (DE) and Transfax (IL). The jury considered that this project which has a strong structure treated a difficult story in a sophisticated manner. They were particularly impressed by the artistic side of the puppets and their use in the drama and wanted to support this talented director. 

01/02/2018 - The very first Eurimages Co-production Development Award of 2018 was awarded last night at the close of the 35th Cinemart edition, Rotterdam’s International Film Festival’s co-production market, to the project entitled Mitra by Kaweh Modiri which will be produced by the company BALDR Film (NL). The jury composed of Arben Zharku, Dorien van de Pas (for Eurimages) and Rachel Ellis was impressed by the bravery of the filmmaker, who presented a very personal and delicate story on retribution and guilt.  See the press release on the festival’s website.

19th Sarajevo Film Festival winners of the Eurimages Coproduction Development Award (2013)
