Representatives of Moldovan Central Election Commission went  to Estonia for a study visit on internet voting

The Council of Europe provided support in organising a study visit of the representatives of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Moldova (CEC) to Estonia aiming at exchanging experience on Internet voting between the CEC and relevant Estonian institutions in the period of 12-15 December 2021.

The 5-member Moldovan delegation was provided with the opportunity to analyze the Estonian experience in the field of electronic voting implementation, but also other alternative voting mechanisms. The CEC delegation held several meetings with the representatives of the National Electoral Committee, the State Electoral Office, Cybernetica IT company, Information System Authority, the Supreme Court. The delegationmet also with the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Republic of Estonia and with the former Prime Minister of Estonia.

As a result, the CEC delegation was familiarized with the best practices of the Estonian institutions in implementing and promoting of the electronic voting. This step came as a logical continuation of the Road map recommendation for the implementation of the internet voting in the Republic of Moldova drawn up by the Council of Europe experts in November 2021.

This activity is implemented within the Council of Europe Project Improving Electoral Practice in the Republic of Moldova, Phase II.
