Electronic tool to learn electoral issues, Republic of Moldova

Functionalities and capabilities of the future E-learning platform, as well as interface and opportunities for its users were discussed by the representatives of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Moldova (CEC), the Centre for Continuous Electoral Training (Training Centre), a representative of the Council of Europe and four local consultants during teleconference on 16 July 2020.

The aim of the meeting was to start developing the new E-learning platform/module and coordinate closely a “road map” among the Council of Europe’s experts, representatives of the Training Centre and representatives of the Central Electoral Commission.

Beneficiary institution emphasized the need to have a user-friendly platform that could be used by all interested persons, not only by the representatives of the Training Centre and members of the electoral management bodies, but by representatives of the social society, first-time voters, journalists, observers etc.

Participants stressed the necessity to have this electronic tool ready and expressed their willingness of putting it to use for the mandatory training to be delivered for members of electoral district councils and precinct electoral bodies within the upcoming Presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova, set for 1 November 2020.

It is worth mentioning, that the module would be more then useful instrument taking into account the Moldovan authorities do not exclude a rise in number of the COVID-19 related cases in the Republic of Moldova in autumn 2020.

The activity is funded and implemented by the Council of Europe within the on-going project “Improving electoral practice in the Republic of Moldova”.
