Deputy Secretary General at International Forum for Sports Integrity in Lausanne

“To look at sports through the prism of human rights, democracy and the rule of law is to apply values in the pursuit of ethical standards”, declared Deputy Secretary General Bjørn Berge while addressing the International Forum for Sports Integrity (IFSI) at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Lausanne (Switzerland).

Berge highlighted the relevance of Council of Europe sport conventions and normative action in the field. “The elimination of corruption is also integral to the integrity of sport and indeed good governance more broadly”, emphasised the Deputy Secretary General. An exchange of views with IOC President Thomas Bach was also part of the programme.
