HISTOLAB -Transnational History Education Laboratory
Date: 28/04/2022 to 27/04/2024
Impact: The aim of the Transnational History Education and Co-operation Laboratory (HISTOLAB) is to bring together professionals, civil society, experts, research institutes, and relevant networks active in the field of history education. This shall enhance the dialogue between the several well-reputed experts, institutions and organisations from all across Europe and beyond, who share the Observatory on History Teaching in Europe’s (Observatory) vision and concerns: to ensure that the knowledge, skills and values that young people acquire through history education contribute to the strengthening of democracy and peace in Europe. The HISTOLAB will allow all members to benefit from all the partners’ expertise, experience, and channels of communication. This pooling of knowledge, communicative resources and expertise is of crucial importance in order to be able to respond to the challenges that the manipulation of historical narratives and ignorance of history pose to democracies in Europe and worldwide. The primary objective is hence to provide a platform for history education that involves a broad range of stakeholders that aims to enable knowledge sharing and the learning from national, regional and European experiences through case studies and the exchange of innovative practices. This pursues the goal to provide an improved understanding of the commonalities of European history, with the ultimate aim to foster a common European identity, rooted in the appreciation of democracy and united in diversity. The activities of the HISTOLAB are organised around four clusters of action, described in detail below:
1. Pooling Knowledge
2. Exchanging Knowledge
3. Generating Knowledge
4. Multiplying Knowledge
