Impact of Covid-19 on S4 policies and practices - Webinar

The Sport Conventions Team of the Council of Europe will organise a webinar entitled “Impact of Covid-19 pandemic on national and international Safety, Security and Service policies and practices at football and other sports events”.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the measures taken by national authorities to stop its spread have had a significant impact on the organisation of sports events across the world. As more and more States are in transition to a “new normality” or entering in a “second wave” of the pandemic, new challenges arise, including how to guarantee sports events’ safety and security and how to face the social and economic impact of the lockdown and/or restrictions to normal life.

Speakers will include national experts from France, the Netherlands, Portugal and United Kingdom and from major sport organisations: UEFA and FIFA.

This webinar aims at facilitating an exchange of views between public authorities and sports organisations on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the organisation of sports events with a focus on policies and practices to guarantee safety, security and service at sport events.

Participants will be invited to discuss the key findings of the Council of Europe survey on “the impact of Covid-19” launched in summer 2020 and share their most recent experiences in organising football matches and other sports events.

In addition to the exchange of experience, challenges will be identified, recommendations and good practices will be shared for the sport season that has started in most European countries.

This webinar is not entirely public, it is open to all national delegates and observers from the Standing Committee (T-RV) of the Spectator Violence Convention and to the States Parties to the Council of Europe Convention on an Integrated Safety, Security and Service Approach at Football Matches and Other Sports Events (St Denis Convention), as well as to all observers and CoE involved partners in this field.

The webinar will take place on Thursday 19 November 2020 from 9:30 to 13:00. It will be in English.
