Final regional event for Eastern Partnership countries

Marking the close of a series of data protection activities and events involving the six Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine), the seminar entitled “Strong Data Protection Authorities for Better Safeguard of Individuals and their Right to Data Protection” was organised in the framework of the Council of Europe / European Union Programme Partnership for Good Governance (PGG) under the Joint Project “Enhance the Right to Data Protection in Eastern Partnership Countries”.

The seminar gathered representatives of the countries of the Programme (data protection authorities or government representatives in countries where DPAs have not been set up), as well as experts of the Council of Europe, to discuss a Training manual on the role and missions of data protection authorities that has been prepared with the contribution of all six countries, a Comparative study on the two institutional models for data protection and access to information authorities (mix or distinct models) and provide for an update on the latest developments in each participating country.

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Republic of Serbia, Mr Rodoljub Sabic, took part in the seminar, which was an invaluable opportunity or exchanges.
