Back Belarus delegation in study visit at the French Data Protection Authority - CNIL

The Republic of Belarus is finalising its draft law on data protection and a delegation was invited to a one-day study visit at the CNIL to discuss technical aspects of a data protection authority and best practices.
The topics addressed were the structure and operation of a DPA as well as the repressive chain.

The delegation was composed of representatives of various ministers of the Belarus concerned by data protection issues: the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Communications and Informatisation, the Ministry of Justice , together with representatives of the National Centre of Legislation and Legal Research, in charge of developing the draft law.

This activity was a follow-up of Council of Europe support given to the Republic of Belarus in 2016 and 2017 at the first stage of the preparation of the legislation in the form of legal expertise and analysis of the existing legislation then of the concept of the draft law on data protection.
