CyberSouth: National Workshop for supporting the establishment of the 24/7 Contact Point in Tunisia

In order to assist the Tunisian authorities to complete the process for accession to the Budapest Convention and following their request, a meeting on the establisment of 24/7 Contact Point (CP) took place, online, on the 13th of July 2021. This workshop follows the previos advisory mission on the role of the 24/7 CP implemented by the CyberSouth project on the 27th of August 2018. On that occasion, the necessary information was provided in order assist Tunisian authorities in their decision-making process as to where such contact point should be hosted. A decision in this respect has been reached and the Ministry of Interior of Tunisia will take this responsibility.

During this meeting, the representatives of 24/7 CPs in Romania have provided further assistance to the Tunisian delegation, by presenting the responsibilities of the 24/7 Network and international best practices in its establishment, the competences and responsibilities, as well as the capacities and resources required for the proper functioning of the CP. Moreover, case studies on how international cooperation is handled through this channel were presented.

The CyberSouth project remains ready to further support the Tunisian authorities in the setting-up of the 24/7 CP and other activities that would strengthen their capacities to fight against cybercrime.
