GLACY+: INTERPOL Technical webinars (E-FIRST)

The E-FIRST Course for law enforcement developed by ECTEG and delivered from 14 to 30 September 2020 under the framework of the GLACY+ Project, featured a series of three real-time webinars.

The 1st webinar - Crime Scene and Live Data – was held on September 21st, being focused on digital forensics, providing an overview of devices and computer systems where digital data is stored, also making an overall assessment of the actual search and seizure processes. Moreover, the First Responder‘s Scan Tool (FiRST) was presented, as the Live Forensic-Tool for Detection of externally stored or encrypted data. The tool is of an unparalleled importance for First Responders and experts and can be found here.

The 2nd webinar – Mobile Network and Devices – was held on September 22nd and covered the challenges of smart devices providing insightful information on mobile forensics including on how mobile networks identify devices and collect data through third party apps.

The 3rd and last webinar in this series - Virtual Asset Seizure – was organized on September 24th and was focused on virtual assets, cryptocurrencies, types of Bitcoin and how to generate different Bitcoin wallets.

The webinars were opened for the participation of criminal justice authorities worldwide and engaged a large audience, each having more than 160 participants ranging from specialized officers in Law Enforcement, the Prosecution Service and the Judiciary, coming from over 50 countries.

This thread of both practical and resourceful webinars was delivered with the purpose to increase awareness of challenges raised by the use of devices & equipment on the modern crime scene and emphasized the multiple facets responders should focus on during investigations.
