GLACY+: CoE-APWG global webinar focuses on cooperation between criminal justice and service providers

Some 180 representatives from criminal justice authorities of more than 60 countries took part on Wednesday 30 September in the C-PROC global webinar on collaboration between criminal justice authorities and multi-national service providers in cybercrime investigations. The event was co-organized by the GLACY+ Project of the Council of Europe and the APWG.EU, and offered the opportunity to focus on current technical and legal challenges, and highlight good practices and perspective solutions, also in the light of the innovations that will be introduced by the upcoming Second Additional Protocol to the Budapest Convention.

Obstacles in the international policing context were analysed by INTERPOL and the way these are reflected in the national context was highlighted by the Ministerio Publico of Chile, who also presented a guide that has been produced for national prosecutors on how to obtain information from multi-national service providers. Facebook and Cloudflare complemented the solutions by describing what data is available at their side and how criminal justice authorities can retrieve it in the course of a cybercrime investigation.

The webinar is part of a series aimed at strengthening capacities of criminal justice authorities worldwide in investigating and prosecuting cybercrimes and in handling electronic evidence across national borders. New appointments will be soon communicated through the dedicated webpage.
