CyberSouth: Regional Workshop on Judicial Training Strategy

Within the framework of the CyberSouth project, the Council of Europe organised the first Regional Workshop on Judicial Training Strategy, which took place on 23-25 January 2019 at Grand Serail in Beirut, Lebanon.

The purpose of this regional workshop was for priority countries delegates to exchange experience on judicial training strategy related to cybercrime and electronic evidence and discuss the content of the curricula at different levels.

The opening of the regional workshop was addressed by representatives of Ministry of Justice, Superior Council of Defence, Presidency of the Council of Ministeries, Cybersecurity Committee from Lebanon and Council of Europe. The European Union Delegation took part in the event and supported the work of CyberSouth project in its intervention.

A number of 35 experts from Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Portugal, Pakistan Romania, and Tunisia participated in the workshop who discussed the concept paper developed by the Council of Europe on judicial training on cybercrime and electronic evidence for magistrates, as a guideline to develop their national strategies. The delegates also agreed on the curricula on cybercrime and electronic evidence for initial training course, and addressed content proposals for the advanced and specialized versions of this course. In the last day, the participants agreed about the creation of a specialized network on cybercrime and electronic evidence for the CyberSouth countries magistrates.

The outcomes of this regional workshop will be implemented within the next six months in the CyberSouth priority countries with the help of each working groups in charge of developing local training courses on cybercrime and electronic evidence.
