CyberSouth: Round table on cybersecurity strategy

Lebanon has decided to adopt a Cybersecurity strategy to validate and give prominence to the ongoing work of Security agencies in protecting of the critical infrastructures of the country. The Prime Minister of Lebanon, Said Hariri, nominated a Committee with representatives from Ministry of Telecommunication, Security agencies, Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Defense and the Council of Ministers, as well as academia to discuss on the future elaboration of a strategy.

In order to support the launching of the work of the Committee, CyberSouth project in cooperation with the French Embassy and the European Union Delegation in Lebanon organized a round table on Cybersecurity. The meeting was attended by representatives from ANSSI (National Agency for Information System Security) France and representatives of the above mentioned Ministries and Agencies from Lebanon including the coordinator of the Cybersecurity strategy, and was aiming to share best practices and to discuss about the next steps to follow in order to frame the Cybersecurity strategy. Results of the Committee are expected within the next six months.

The round table was organized under the patronage of the Prime Minister and was addressed during the opening ceremony by the Secretary General of the General Council of Defense, the national coordinator of the Cybersecurity strategy, the Council of Europe, the French Ambassador, the Head of European Union Delegation and the Minister of Telecommunication of Lebanon.
