CyberEast: Series of Training Courses on Templates for Data Preservation and Subscriber Information in the Eastern Partnership countries finalized

The primary purpose of international cooperation in cybercrime investigations and proceedings is the preservation and production of admissible and reliable evidence that can be used in pre-trial and trial proceedings in criminal cases. Electronic evidence in cases of offences against and by means of information technology is usually difficult to collect and relatively volatile. It is therefore crucial that, in investigating and prosecuting cybercrime, the States Parties to the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime are prepared to employ a variety of international cooperation modalities available under the Convention in an efficient and timely manner.

In this context, the CyberEast project, a joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe, completed the series of country-specific training courses for the countries of the Eastern Partnership, focusing on the templates for data preservation and subscriber information.

These online training courses, structured as mix of introductory overviews with hands-on exercise, offered a refreshed and practical approach for prosecutors and investigators on the templates for Data Preservation Request and Mutual Legal Assistance Request for subscriber information, following up previous sessions that were offered in 2018 to all Eastern Partnership states as tabletop exercises under the Cybercrime@EaP 2018 project.
