Back ASEAN Cyber Security and Cyber Crime Center: Possibility and Way Forward

Organized by the Office of the Council of State of Thailand on 14-16 September, the international symposium "ASEAN Cyber Security and Cyber Crime Center: Possibility and Way Forward" focused on exploring the possibility to establish a Cyber Security and Cybercrime Center serving the 10 countries of the ASEAN region.

The presentations of the GLACY and GLACY+ initiatives delivered during the event, as well as the lessons learned and the hints on a possible way forward in the ASEAN countries have been very appreciated, especially since the general goal of establishing a regional cyber security and cybercrime center matches very well with the approach that the Council of Europe wants to bring forward.

Japan’s and Philippines’ representatives further remarked the international outreach of the Budapest Convention and invited all participating countries to consider accessing the Convention as the only international treaty capable of provisions for international cooperation and effective contrast to cybercrime.
