A workshop on some of the criminal Conventions of the Council of Europe was held on 1 and 2 June 2023. More than 120 customs representatives from 13 francophone countries, all members from the International Association of French-Speaking Customs Officials (AIDF) (Benin, Burkina-Faso, Central African Republic, Republic Democratic of Congo, Cameroon, Republic of Congo (Brazzaville), France, Ivory Coast, Mali, Niger, Switzerland, Tchad and Togo) actively took part in this event at the Council of Europe.
In particular, participants were informed of the scope of the Nicosia Convention and the work being done on this subject. During a round table discussion, views were exchanged on the various seizures of cultural property carried out in their respective countries and the lessons that could be learnt from them about how international trafficking in cultural property operates.
