Due to the restrictions posed by COVID-19, the initially planned Heritage Walks Conference, co-organized by the Association Almašani (a member of the Faro Convention Network) and Novi Sad 2021 European Capital of Culture Foundation, was replaced by the presentation of the Book “A Guide to the Almaš Environment”. One of the outcomes of the project “Intellectual topography of the Almaš area”, this book presents the history of the neighborhood, as well as some of its emblematic places.

This event, aiming to mark the European heritage week, focused on Almaški region as such, emphasizing above all the activism of the local community in creating urban and cultural changes in this part of the city of Novi Sad, a fact very much in line with the Faro Convention Principles. The event, inaugurated by the Member of the Novi Sad City Council in charge of Culture, counted with interventions by the author of the book, local and national experts, as well as the Council of Europe’s Culture and Cultural Heritage Division team.
