Croatia: international conference on the “Cultural Routes of the Olive Tree” as a model for Europe’s values, heritage and sustainable development

In the framework of the Croatian Chairmanship of the Council of Europe and of the Central European Initiative, in cooperation with the Croatian Ministry of Tourism and the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes, the international conference “Cultural Routes of the Olive Tree as a model for Europe’s values, heritage and sustainable development” was held in Mali Losinj, Croatia on 14-16 November 2018.

The conference discussed innovative approaches promoting European cultural heritage, sustainable tourism and local development through certified Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, Cultural Route projects and local stakeholders, with the participation of the Croatian Ministry of Culture, the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Montenegrin Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, as well as Cultural Routes representatives (Routes of the Olive Tree, European Route of Historic Thermal Towns, Roman Emperors and Danube wine route).

Croatia is currently crossed by 8 Cultural Routes: the Routes of the Olive Tree, the Phoenicians’ Route, Saint Martin of Tours Route, Iter Vitis, the European Cemeteries Route, the European Route of Historical Thermal towns, ATRIUM and Destination Napoleon.
