EPA Governing Board meeting 2022 in Luxembourg

On 5 and 6 May, the Governing Board of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (EPA) met to renew the certification "Cultural Route of the Council of Europe” to networks under regular evaluation as well as to award the certification to new Cultural Routes candidates.

Representatives from the 35 member States of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe took part in the decision-making process.

The meeting was opened by Mr. Matjaž GRUDEN, Director of Democratic Participation, Council of Europe, Mr. Julien VUILLEUMIER, Chair of the Governing Board of the Enlarged Partial Agreement; Ambassador Patrick ENGELBERG, Chair of the Statutory Committee of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes and Ambassador Jean-Claude KUGENER, President of the European Institute of Cultural Routes.

“This year's meeting is more than just a statutory meeting. It is an opportunity after two years of online meetings to finally bring together all the member States and have real exchanges again. The programme is experiencing impressive success and visibility and the number of member States and the network of Cultural Routes continues to grow with a very promising future”, emphasised Mr. VUILLEUMIER.

Ambassador ENGELBERG shared the same outlook: “I am delighted to participate in this meeting as Chair of the EPA Statutory Committee and Observer to the EPA Governing Board, more notably to attend such event in-person again. It is a pleasure to participate in this statutory meeting which guarantees the high quality and high standard of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.”

The first day was then dedicated in large part to the auditions of the candidate representatives of the Evaluation Cycle 2021-2022. The second day saw the presentations of the certified Cultural Route of the Council if Europe representatives.

A full list of candidate routes and certified routes under regular evaluation is available here.

Decisions of the Governing Board concerning the results of the 2021-2022 certification cycle will soon be made available on this website.

Among the agenda topics of the meeting, The EPA Governing Board also discussed the organization of the 2022 Annual Advisory Forum on Cultural Routes in Chania (Crete), at the invitation of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports.
