Spain: Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe presented at the XI International Jacobean Lessons

On the 17th July the XI Edition of the Jacobean International Lessons took place at the Santiago de Compostela University, in Spain. This year, the main topic of the Summer Course was El Camino de Santiago in the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage” and it was aimed at commemorating the 25th anniversary of the declaration of the Camino as a World Heritage site.

Stefano Dominioni, Director of the European Institute of Cultural Routes and Executive Secretary of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes, was specially invited by the professors Domingo González Lopo and Miguel Taín Guzmán, directors of the course, to deliver the inaugural conference. On this occasion, he presented the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe Programme with a special emphasis on Cultural Routes traversing Spain and the outstanding example of Santiago de Compostela Cultural Route.

The present edition has brought together prestigious national and international experts, who presented the results of the latest research on the Jacobean phenomenon, the Santiago de Compostela route and its cultural heritage. The public was composed by students and researchers from countries such as France, Brazil, Italy, Germany and Portugal.
